We Made It!

We made it to Redding and God's grace was all over our trip, more than we imagined it would be. We squeezed everything into our two suitcases which weighed about 49 lbs each (the limit being 50), said goodbye to 2304 Jesse Owens Dr. and headed to the airport with our good friend Meagan Brown. Here's Sammy at the Austin airport:

We boarded our flight to San Francisco at 4:30pm and Sammy was asleep in Natalie's lap before take off. Sammy slept for 3 hours of the 3 1/2 hour flight!!! Praise God. We had no idea what it was going to be like with Sammy on the plane. He was incredible. The flight attendant even commented that Sammy was the best baby in the world! I'm sure she's seen her share of crying babies. Here's a little video of Sammy and mommy:

After arriving to the San Fransico airport we had a 3 hour layover. We fed Sammy, ourselves (I guess they don't serve food on airplanes anymore. I was supposed to look into that and forgot. Oops!), and let Sammy exercise. Here's some footage of him terrorizing the airport:

We finally boarded our last flight at 9:30pm (11:30 Austin time). Now, our first plane was about the size of a tube of toothpaste. But this one was the size of a travel size tube of toothpaste! Our last flight lasted an hour and for Sammy was as chipper as can be. He just looked around for people to smile at and he stole a few hearts in the process. We landed, picked up our rent a car and arrived at our house around 11:30pm (1:30am Austin time). By this time Sammy was not quite as chipper. It was 5.5 hours after his bed time after all.

After a good night sleep we are just relaxing and settling in before our first day of class tomorrow. We'll send some more updates as they come.

We'll leave you with a prayer request:

Sammy is used to waking up around 6 or 7am and here that translates to 4am or 5am. Last night he woke up at 3:30am. Would you please pray that his little body would quickly adjust to the new time and would be able to get a full nights rest? Thanks!

  3. So happy to hear. While there in Redding,
FOR SURE, you have to walk across the SUNDIAL BRIDGE. It is in a nice little park, a pedestrian bridge that everyone will think is amazing...really!! The kids will love it. Take advantage of eating at IN 'n OUT while in Redding, since we do not have them in Austin yet. Very kid friendly. Head to the lake, view the dam, go to the mountains, Mt. Shasta and Mt. Lassen and the Trinity alps are great. Whiskeytown Lake is one of my favorites. I grew up just three beautiful hours over the mtns, in Arcata, CA...beautiful little town on the coast...and lots of REDWOOD TREES TO behold and beaches to walk. Please try to take a weekend over to the coast. you won't regret it.

We are praying for your time, whatever you do.
